A Club Close to Home
TJK Tewkesbury is an adult jujutsu club training three times a week at Wheatpieces Community Centre in Tewkesbury. It is part of the Taijutsu Kai association, founded by Sensei Ross Iannoccaro (8th Dan Jujutsu), which has been teaching across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire for more than 45 years.
This project is a personal one. Mark, our owner and creative lead, trains and instructs at TJK Tewkesbury, so we have built and marketed the club as both the agency and the people on the mat. It has become a proving ground for the approach we use with every client.
The First Website, in 2020
We built the club’s original website at tjktewkesbury.co.uk in 2020. It introduced jujutsu to newcomers, explained where the art came from and how TJK teaches it, and pointed visitors to the TJK association, news, events and class bookings.
A New Website Built to Fill Classes
As the club grew, we rebuilt the website around a single goal: turning curious visitors into people on the mat. The new site leads with a bold, high-contrast design in the club’s crimson and charcoal, and a clear promise: learn to defend yourself, with your first class free and no contract.
The site explains what makes the club different without jargon:
- One art, six skill sets: real self-defence, throws and takedowns, striking, ground skills, sport jujutsu and traditional roots.
- A dedicated beginners-only class on Tuesdays, with its own page.
- Pages for women’s self-defence, sport jujutsu, the monthly open mat and the White Belt Pathway.
- Plain-English guides such as which martial art is best for self-defence and how to train when you are busy, written to answer the questions people search for.
- A clear timetable, prices and a simple free-class booking page.
Online Payments for Classes and Memberships
We set up WooCommerce so members can pay online instead of handing over cash at the door. Students can pay for a single class, a Tuesday double class or a monthly membership, buy the £99 White Belt Pathway bundle, and manage everything from their own account. Payments are quicker for students and far easier for the club to keep track of.
Photography, Video and Advertising
We photograph and film the club’s classes, so the website, social media and adverts all show real people training. Those images and clips power the club’s Facebook and Google advertising, and the cookie consent is written in plain English, explaining that it helps a small club spend its advertising money wisely.
Teaching Materials for Students
Our design work extends onto the mat. We produce the club’s social media content and a growing library of training worksheets, technique maps and rulesets for students, all in a consistent house style so they look and feel like part of the same club.
Ongoing Management
Pixertise hosts and manages the website, with daily backups, updates, security monitoring and performance optimisation, and keeps the timetable and offers up to date as the club evolves.
